Pretty sweet week for records this week, but it was not without it’s mishaps. My Bombay Bicycle Club 10” from Mamstore showed up very quickly, however putting a record inbetween two odd bits of cardboard and then putting that in a polythene mailing bag is always going to end up with bent corners and upset faces.
I emailed Mamstore and to fair to them they got back to me very quickly and promised to send a replacement one out straight away with better packaging and no mention of returning the other one (score!). The new record showed up 48 hours later inbetween two bigger bits of cardboard but this time in a huge jiffy bag. Still not the optimum way to send records (how can a company this big not know what record mailers and stiffeners are?) but fair play to them, it got to me just fine, so all’s well that ends well.
Although not as much of a big deal, I finally got round to ordering the Bossk/Rinoa split after all this time from Eyesofsound and was very disappointed that I had to wait over a month for them to send it out. I don’t think the label is too active anymore but over a month is pretty shitty. I got a couple of free posters and that though so it could be worse.
Shout outs to Coffee Breath & Heartache for sending my new Sharks record out VERY quickly (ordered Tuesday, got it on Saturday) from Germany, and what a record it is. The Screenprinted B Side looks fantastic and songs are brilliant, a real step up! I’d highly recommend ordering this.
Last but not least i’m very stoked to get my hands on Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More on gatefold 12”. This is the first UK release of this on 12” (there are some imports around, such a German one I think) and is limited and numbered to 1000. This album has sold at least 600,000 copies in the UK (2 x Platinum) so i’m fairly glad I have two of these. I’d try and get my hands on one if I were you!
I have a bunch of records on order and might start updating this more often, I got a bit bored of doing it for a while but this was fun to write, and thanks if you started following me recently.
